Experience A Grande Ronde River Float Trip:

The Grande Ronde River of Oregon and Washington is one of the most beautiful river corridors you can take a float trip on and a great steelhead destination. The headwaters of the Grande Ronde begin in the Elkhorn Mountains in the Whitman N. F. of Oregon and eventually empties into the Snake River in Washington.

In 1988 I was one of four river rangers working for the Bureau of Land management to conduct statistical analysis on all aspects of public usage on the Grande Ronde River system. After floating the Grande Ronde River for about 1,200 miles in a single season I became hooked on the idea of being a river guide for raft trips and fly fishing in Oregon and Washington. This experience along with my partnership with a small fly fishing shop and float trip company in LaGrande Oregon started my free flowing life towards the great sea of the Pacific Northwest.

This Grande Ronde River float trip is three days and two nights. Our overnight camps on the Grande Ronde River banks are well situated for convenient early morning and late evening fly fishing for steelhead. The meals we provide are excellent, fresh and tasty! Expect cool nights and crisp mornings with afternoons warm and sunny along this beautiful river. You will need to bring a good warm sleeping bag, your personal gear and of course a camera for this raft trip!

Some great food and scenery

Grande Ronde Steelhead:

Fly fishing the Grande Ronde River and catching steelhead on a dry fly presentation
is the ticket here on the Grande Ronde. The steelheads here hit dry flies like "Moose Turds" and "Muddlers", and in the heat of the day go deep and try a #4 purple egg sucker fly with a weighted pink head.

Our float trip guides are all top notch and will provide steelhead flies, and help when needed.
I recommend a 6wt. 12'-6" Sage spey rod for Grande Ronde steelhead with a wind cutter 678 fly line.
